Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics (orthopedic doctors above the rank of SHO/FY2 are also informally called orthopods) is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorder.
In human anatomy, the vertebral column (backbone or spine) is a column usually consisting of 33 vertebrae, the sacrum, intervertebral discs, and the coccyx situated in the dorsal aspect of the torso, separated by spinal discs. It houses and protects the spinal cord in its spinal canal.
We provide care for general orthopedic issues involving the muscles, joints and bones. In addition to treating general orthopedic issues, many of our physicians have additional specialized training, referred to as “fellowship training”, in specific areas of orthopedics, such as spine or sports medicine. We appreciate your interest in our services and specialties.
